Job Overview
Reporting to the Vice-President, as the Director of Development you will oversee the execution of land development projects in accordance with the intended vision, designs, budgets, production, financing schedules, and regulatory requirements. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, developing and providing guidance to other team members, while promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Creating and managing development schedules to ensure strategic plans and critical development processes are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Directing, coordinating, and reviewing design and engineering plans provided by consultants to maximize efficiencies and productivity.
  • Liaising with consultants and contractors regarding construction scope, execution and budget.
  • Preparing regular reports on progress, budgets, and expenditures of project-specific phase, and recommending adjustments if necessary.
  • Building and fostering positive relationships with municipalities and other related parties.
  • Reviewing, evaluating and leading the negotiation of major contracts and work agreements.
  • Overseeing all aspects of construction wrap-up to ensure completion.
  • Contributing to Qualico Communities’ land acquisition efforts by providing expert insight to the Acquisition Team on any prospective land development opportunity.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Planning, or Business is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Development industry.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).

Work Conditions
You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Travel to sites and overtime may occasionally be required.
