Job Grade & Compensation : DC-05 $66,400 – $83,000 (CAD) + Bonus

Destination Canada is looking for a Marketing Specialist, Business Events to join our team in Vancouver as we inspire travellers to explore Canada.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, Business Events, the incumbent is the key liaison between Destination Canada’s Business Events teams, HQ teams, the agencies of record and Business Events industry partners.

DUTIES: The role supports the development, implementation and evaluation of the integrated, multi-channel marketing and communications programs for Business Events. This role coordinates efforts with the team, partners and third-party vendors.

Key duties include project management; marketing planning; partner communications supporting content marketing; brand and MRPR activities aligned with the strategy; reviewing and reporting on program results; supporting in training, management and overseeing deliverables of our agencies of record, as well as coordinating key projects as directed by the Marketing Manager.

Essential Qualifications

EDUCATION: Degree from a recognized university in marketing, communications or business administration, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering marketing campaigns to consumers and/or business events.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management and managing complex projects.

Experience in the tourism industry is an asset.

Experience working in the Business Events industry is an asset.

Experience working with strategic marketing and paid media agencies is an asset.

Proficiency in French is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of various software packages including MS Office Suite (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Knowledge of marketing, promotions and media buying practices.

Understanding of content marketing and communication channels.

Knowledge of the Business Events industry.

Knowledge of the Incentive travel industry.

Knowledge of agency models for marketing, branding, strategy, design, media buying and performance measurement.

Knowledge of project management and planning including financial and administrative management.

Knowledge of the latest marketing and technology trends an asset.

Knowledge of Business Events marketing in global markets is an asset.

ABILITIES:
